FULL CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

Weight Loss Wednesday (mind-body coaching only - no yoga)

The Weight Loss Wednesday class frees you from the tyranny of diets, calorie-counting, masochistic exercise routines, and struggling against your own body. Learn why most diets fail, why starting an exercise routine without addressing your thoughts and emotions doesn’t work, and how to hear your body’s wisdom.  For most of us who have struggled with weight, the real torture isn’t the weight itself - it’s the thoughts we have about ourselves that are the real villain. It feels like an endless struggle to deal with emotions without using food for comfort.  The sense of failure we feel every time we “don’t have enough willpower” is soul-crushing.  It’s time to free yourself from this painful cycle and learn to love yourself and your body.  Not to mention, discover your body’s ideal weight!  Want the best results?  Commit to coming to a weekly class and you will see results on all levels - mental, emotional, and physical. This class is mind-body coaching only and does not contain yoga.

Yo-ChingSM

- Have you ever found your mind wandering during yoga? Do you find yourself criticizing yourself or comparing yourself to others in the room?  Do you feel great physically but still feel stressed?

- This is a bit different than a traditional yoga class - for example, there is talking and feedback between participants and the instructors, but we will be doing yoga for the majority of the class. The yoga coaching mix addresses mental distractions to help you truly connect with your body. It also allows you to address some of the deeper reasons your body is holding onto physical tension and stress.  This class contains primarily yin yoga, so if you love yin, you can now get your fix three times a week should you choose! Suitable for all levels.

Relax and Restore (R&R) Yoga

A gentle practice designed to stimulate the immune system, restore balance, and relieve stress.  This class is ideal for those with limited flexibility or strength.  All levels are welcome.

Foundational Yoga

A multi-level class that emphasizes and builds on the foundations of asana (postures) and pranayama (breathing) to develop strength, flexibility and balance–the building blocks of a sound practice.  All levels welcome.

Get Up and Go Slow Flow

A slow, flowing yoga class that will warm the body. You will leave feeling vibrant, energized, centered, and ready to start your day.

Yin Yoga

YinYoga targets the connective tissues such as the ligaments, bones and the surrounding joints that are not fully exercised in a more active style of asana practice. The poses are held longer than in typical classes, letting these areas receive deep stimulation, increasing circulation and creating healing potential in the joints. Suitable for almost all students, Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic, muscular (yang) styles of yoga. Yin also deeply relaxes the nervous system & cultivates a meditative mind.

Intermediate Yoga Flow

A dynamic class exploring how asana can be linked with breath to warm, strengthen, and free the body, mind, and spirit.  Expand your confidence by exploring more advanced asanas, included inversions and backbends.  Previous yoga experience recommended.

Wildcard Wednesday Yoga

On Wednesdays at noon we will keep it mellow, but there will be variation from week to week. One week might be a restorative based class, the next week we could do a mild foundational, yin, or gentle relaxation flow class. Show up and see what the universe provides! Suitable for all levels.

Radiant Core Yoga

Our radiant light comes from the core of our being. Join us for this Foundation Plus class where we will strengthen the center of our physical, mental, and spiritual bodies. We will incorporate core-strengthening poses into this Foundational yoga class. This is a mixed level class and modification will be presented for beginners.

Kids Yoga

Give your child the opportunity to develop body awareness, refine motor skills, and link both hemispheres of the brain in this fun and calming class designed especially for kids. For children ages 7-11 years old.

Yoga Treks

What better way to spend a warm sunny day than in the great outdoors? Yoga treks combine hiking and yoga in Mother Nature’s studio, customized for your group of two or more. We provide mats. Please bring a backpack and water. Selections include hike distance/intensity and yoga practice duration. Our varied terrain hikes will lead to a scenic location for a memorable outdoor practice. The return hike promises serenity and peace. Treks are available in 2 or 3 hour durations. Please allow 1 additional hour to for transportation and logistics. All fitness levels are welcome. Call to schedule your trek today!

Private Instruction

Private individual and small group instruction is available. Initial assessment, individualized instruction and a detailed practice plan are included. Please contact Jess directly to schedule an hour-long session.

Reiki Sessions are given by Jess Ryan.  Reiki is a laying of the hands, touch therapy, that assists in balancing the body, mind, and spirit and bringing mental clarity and focus to the recipient. Because our immune system is linked directly to cell memory, Reiki revitalizes and activates the body’s own immune system to heal itself. Reiki reduces stress and aids the body in releasing harmful toxins. It can help release blockages that contribute to physical pain, depression, fear, etc.

Reiki also creates deep relaxation and a total sense of well-being. Reiki compliments and enhances traditional as well as alternative medicinal modalities and is safe for everyone.

A typical session lasts an hour. The recipient lies fully clothed on a massage table while the practitioner channels Reiki by gently laying hands on or above the energy centers and meridians of the recipient’s body.

Workshops (click the link to visit the workshops page) and Workshop Series can also be purchased online or in person, and are not a part of the regular memberships (though members get a 10% discount). Workshops are advertised under Featured Events on our homepage, so check in frequently.  Don’t feel like doing that?  Make it easy and join the email list to receive all event notices as well as our newsletter!  (Sign up on the homepage under the Specials box!)

Studio Etiquette:

At the Healthy Life Studio we want to make your experience in every class as relaxing and serene as possible. To do that we ask all clients to:

  • Turn off cell phones.
  • Remove your shoes and place your personal items in the cubicles located directly inside the door. Since people will be walking around the studio barefoot, it is most hygienic if everyone takes off their outdoor shoes first thing.
  • Arrive on time or up to 10 minutes early to set up.
  • Respect your limitations and the limitations of others. This is your personal journey and we want to foster a compassionate environment of acceptance.
  • Dress appropriately.
  • Don’t be afraid to observe silence. You’ll be able to focus and meditate with your yoga movement better when you are able to be silent and refrain from excessive movement or noise.
