About Yoga Teacher Lizz Cowley
Lizz Cowley is a Yoga Alliance registered 200 level yoga instructor, and has been teaching in Casper since October 2009. She received certification through the Shambhava School of Yoga in Colorado and enjoys teaching from several styles of yoga. Lizz was drawn to yoga at an early age but never pursued this interest until young adulthood. In an effort to find a spiritual purpose in life, Lizz pursued the study of yoga on her own in 2003 and began attending the Omaha Yoga School shortly thereafter. Lizz enjoyed classes in asana and philosophy at the school, receiving instruction in classical Raja Yoga from school director Meredith Busher and Margaret Hahn, an early student of B.K.S Iyengar and founder of the school. As Lizz continues to develop her practice, she feels “increasingly blessed to have studied with these two amazing and beautiful souls”.
Lizz’s appreciation and calling to yoga deepened during pregnancy and after the birth of her daughter and teacher, Sofie. She describes the experience as a “surrendering to the greater-self, the self which is connected to all other beings”. It was at this point that Lizz knew she would someday enjoy guiding others to their own yoga practices. Lizz finds great joy in helping students to begin their personal journeys in yoga and feels humbled and grateful to be a part of them.
Lizz also holds an Associates degree in social sciences and has experience in family support and mediation. She currently works at Pottery By You. Her interests include visual, theatrical and literary arts, writing, and music.
